Welcome to the 2023 Daytime Gathering at our store.

These projects started in January 2023 and we aim this year a Pattern Choice approach where each Daytime participant completes a piece using a pattern/BOM that the Participant finds that fits his/her 2023 plans OR two or more…!… pieces from the “Quilt Recipes” book by Jen Kingwell or another Jen Kingwell pattern. Which ever path a Gathering Participant takes in 2023: The path will be for the entire year; Daytime Gathering 2023 will be for the year — with June/July being “Summer Break” months (no meetings in June/July).

We will be updating this BLOG once in awhile — and, as our Gathering projects have short-lives (for now: Through the calendar year 2022) — perhaps this BLOG helps us all interact.

We look forward to hearing from you and to your joining us in the Gatherings once a month at Bernina World of Sewing in Raleigh.

To participate, it is intended that you have purchased at Bernina World of Sewing the book or pattern involved with this project and, as well, the fabric for the projects used during this Gathering was purchased at Bernina World of Sewing.

Stay Tuned for Updates in January and Beyond as 2023 moves forward.

    Hello – (From the Webmaster)
We have started this Weblog with the intent of providing the Gathering participants with a “sounding board” for their use.

Please remember that all Weblog entries are audited by me – however, this Weblog is NOT monitored by the store’s staff. Any technical questions, etc. are not meant for store’s-staff members: The Gathering is not a class – and, this Weblog is not a place to ask store staff questions!

Normally, you would start a “Reply” thread using the “Leave a Reply” box at the bottom of this Web page. Alternatively, you just click on the Reply button at the bottom of some existing entry.

    Some reminders:
    – To place a photo related to your efforts worked-on for the Gathering project, just send an eMail to me with the picture attached/included. I will figure out where you intend the photo for your particular Comment.
    – Contact me by eMail if you have any problems / concerns with ANYTHING related to the Weblog. Thank you.

    I wish you a GREAT 2023.

Good luck with your projects and
    Regards,
David – Webmaster at Bernina World of Sewing

    Hi, everyone!

I am glad that you found the BLOG. To make this work, it would be great if once in awhile you make a comment here or send in a photo for the BLOG. This way, we will all be “kept up” with each other’s progress – and problems/successes!

The 2023 Daytime Gathering is Pattern Choice: Participants find a pattern that fits their 2023 aims. Some of you will choose patterns from the book: Quilt Recipes By Jen Kingwell. Some will choose another Jen Kingwell pattern – and, some will find another pattern! A true Participant’s Choice Daytime Gatherings for 2023.

To participate in this Gathering, you must be signed up at the store (Bernina World of Sewing). Space is limited!

We will have this Daytime Gathering the third Tuesday morning of each month through the end of the 2023 – with a two month (June/July) break in the Summer.

I wish you some exciting / enjoyable sewing time and projects during the year!

    Sonja

    Daytime Gathering
    November

It was great to see you all at the November Gathering, see completed works: Well Done — and, finalize the 2024 Gathering plans.

In 2024 we will all use Quilt Kits from our store – and, it will be fun/challenging to work with those projects as 2024 comes about.

With Christmas and Holiday happenings taking preference close-to December’s Gathering: We made a group decision to not meet in December 2023.

If you are participating in 2024’s Tuesday Daytime Gathering: See you January 16th!

Have a safe / healthy and joyous holiday season.

    October

What a great October 2023 Gathering we had. We had eight attendees and we had a good talk about 2024 Gathering plans.

We discussed the idea of using Quilt Kits from our store in 2024 – and, everyone thought that was a good idea. We took a “Field Trip” to the store and Siani showed us over 30 different kits.

Seven of us made an on-the-spot decision:

    2024 Plans:

I look forward to seeing you in November and seeing your finished-or-almost-finished 2023 projects.

    Happy sewing-

    Daytime Gathering
    May

We ended the first-half of 2023’s Daytime Gathering with this May session. It has been an enjoyable/productive five months and I am already looking forward to August and the “return to action”. In the meantime, have a safe June/July during our break from the Gatherings.

See you in August! Time flies.

    Daytime Gathering
    April

We missed a few of you due to health issues — we, of course, missed seeing/working with those who were not able to make it in April. We did, though, have a delightful day and we were able to “spread out” the work areas/space: Even more than usual!

See everyone in May. Remember, we take a Summer Break in June/July.

We have a start to 2023! It was terrific to be “back” in Gathering action and exciting to see/discuss all the patterns that will be attacked as the months go by.

Just to get the BLOG started – A few blocks of my first 2023 project: Wesleydale from Quilt Recipes by Jen Kingwell.

I just HAD to try out if my plan would work – and, this time: It did. With seam allowance… haha. You all know what I am talking about!

I am very excited that we are starting our 2023 with a One-Year project.

We have two new members: Julia and Betsy. Welcome, to them!

I wish you a great start for 2023. I look forward to hearing/seeing what you have finally decided to work on.

Also – I needed a Travel Bag. Success! Will I ever make another Bag? Don’t know, about that…. However, we will use the two bags soon: A train trip to Washington DC. We look forward to train travel – it has been a long time since we did such.

My 2022 quilt is being quilted and I should have it bound by the May Gathering. I have begun the Jen Kingwell and have four blocks completed so far. I will be working on this for the remainder of the year.

I am finally back to sewing a little bit everyday. Knee replacement well, but still have PT twice week. Finally finished all of the sections for the Lone Star quilt. The second picture is the fabric I was going to use for the corner blocks and… I am not sure I will like it.. We see.
